Teaching Tip

Volleyball – Numbered or Color-coded “panels” on a volleyball will allow the athlete to WATCH THE BALL into her platform.  Take an older volleyball and identify the SIX panels.  The athlete will call out the color or number upon contact.  The athlete is not trying to guess which color/number contacted her/his platform BUT she should CALL OUT the color/number she sees AS the ball contacts her platform.

Basketball – The double-cross over is a great way to insist on low handles!  Have your athletes V-dribble (cross over) and BACK to the “giving hand” quickly and BELOW the SEAT OF A CHAIR.  Using chairs in practice is the perfect visual to provide a level you are wanting to see demonstrated and performed.
