Spring Ball

AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball starts up with team tryouts in January and February. Practice begins in March for a season of weekend tournaments. Travel may occur but mostly to nearby cities such as Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas/Ft. Worth. Our schedule usually consists of 9 to 12 tournaments, several of which are AAU National Qualifiers.

The Austin Lady Hoops, originated by Coach Caesar Acosta, is our spring and summer AAU/Select program. This current combination of coaches and kids opens up select basketball to primarily the Leander, Round Rock, Georgetown, and Pflugerville areas. The program currently (Summer 2012) has a team that competes at the “JV” level. The program is growing! Our intentions are to grow and extend invitations to hard working 6th, 7th, and 8th grade young ladies. Our JV team will grow up and compete at the Varsity level in our next season. The season runs through early June and then we regroup for a round of June and July training and Austin Lady Hoops Basketball.

Coach Newkirk has been named the head coach of the program.  She is honored to lead the program to a highly competitive level and be joined by a great staff of coaches who also enjoy teaching the game and bring a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to the Austin Lady Hoops.

The Austin Lady Hoops is based on a foundation of advanced instruction driving an exceptional level of basketball, continuing of fundamental skill sets training, team-building experiences, life-lessons, and for individual college exposure. Guiding player potential and maximizing team potential is key to our success.
